Uncertified electronic devices may pose a safety risk. Therefore, Vulpés attaches great importance to safety in the development, production and approval phase of smart heated clothing.

Because safety is our highest priority.

Safety first

One of the main aspects during new product development at Vulpés is the personal safety. To achieve the maximum safety level, we are not only mitigating visible risks but also assume potential risks that may be caused during the product use (ref. FMEA method).

For instance, the Lithium-Polymer batteries are encased in a specially designed protective cover, which is intended to provide more security against bumps and shocks and at the same time has fire-resistant properties.

The Vulpés products comply with all legal requirements for the European market and have been tested by external, independent certification bodies. For further details on the certificates please click on the following link:

In addition, Vulpés tests its own products under extreme conditions with its own and third-party devices such as the cold chamber with the help of external laboratories. We are supported by numerous testimonials that put the devices through their paces before the market launch.

Protection against overheating

The Vulpés products have a smart integrated control system which regulates the set temperature based on the pre-set range. However, in case temperature exceeds the pre-set value due to an improbable malfunction, the electronics will be automatically turned off using the built-in shutdown feature.

Furthermore, the insoles (Vulpés S-Line) have a built-in temperature sensor, which regulates the output power based on the data of the outside temperature. For instance, at the room temperature of +20°C / 68°F the heat output is minimized to a lower level to prevent user's feet getting too warm.

In addition, the heat elements are interwoven in the fabric and at the same time enclosed with a special material to avoid direct contact with the skin. This creates an insulation layer that protects the skin from excessive heat.

Low voltage

According to the European Low Voltage Directive (LVD), voltages below the rms value of 50 V AC and 75 V DC are considered as low voltages. The voltages below 25 V AC and 60 V DC are harmless to humans and animals.

Vulpés uses low voltages for all products in the range of 3.7 V to 7.4 V. The electrical current is at a value of less than 3 A. Together with the voltage the resulted power is too low to be dangerous for the user.

In addition, all contact points and cables are encased in plastic. The upper materials used are non-conductive and prevent contact with the skin in the unlikely event of an exposed lead.

All Vulpés products comply with the LVD (Low Voltage Directive) directive.

Shock protection

The lithium polymer batteries are encased in a robust, secure protective cover that is shockproof and largely fire-resistant. Nevertheless, the battery should be protected from water, fire and extreme radiation and should not be stored in extreme heat or cold.

The batteries comply with all international standards for lithium polymer batteries such as the safe operation (IEC62133) and the transportation (UN38.3) standards.

Antitoxic materials

At Vulpés we solely use antitoxic materials.

For instance, the (electronic) components that are used in Vulpés products does not contain any harmful substances such as e.g. Lead, mercury, cadmium, benzyl butyl phthalate or dibutyl phthalate.

In addition, we pay attention to the use of sustainable and environmentally friendly additives during the production. We completely avoid bleaching agents, such as Chlorine or Sulfur Dioxide (NaHSO3).

Our products are certified according to the EU chemicals regulation REACH as well as the RoHs (Restriction of Hazardous Substances).
